Application of an Oleophobic Coating to Improve Formability in the Deep-Drawing Process

The competition among sheet-metal-forming manufacturers in recent years has become more severe. Many have survived by cutting their production costs. Increasing the formability, which could reduce costs, is focus of many and engineers. In present research, to increase formability over limiting drawing ratio (LDR) cylindrical deep-drawing process, application oleophobic coating proposed. An SUS304 (JIS standard)-stainless-steel deep-drawn component was used as investigated model. First, we applied tribology tests were carried out examine friction coefficients, reduced approximately 60% compared with those standard lubricant use (Iloform TDN81). Next, performed investigate (DR). LDR recommended past be overcome, it increased 12% use. Finally, mechanism using an extremely low coefficient clarified well. Based on these results, process LDR. results also clearly expose multidisciplinary approach that combines process.
